Entertaining and sexy-Yeah!!

4。5 stars。 This book is SO much fun -- dark and sexy with lots of interesting word-building。 It reminds me of FROM BLOOD AND ASH with a little bit of ACOTAR mixed in。 I cannot wait until book 2 comes out to see what happens next!

This book was trash。 Did I enjoy it? Yeah

More giving From Blood and Ash rather than A Touch of Darkness, but still great。 The author set up for a very interesting plot in the next book and I definitely look forward to reading it。

this was a welcome relief after all the melancholy and deaths I have been encountering in more than half a dozen books that I read prior to this。 Entertaining but nothing new if you have read PNR for a long time。

I read this book in literally a day and it was fucking awesome。 this exceeded my expectations so much and i am rabid for the next book

It is a really good book。 As usual vampires are a bit misunderstood。。。。From the moment Adrian the Blood King and Princess Isolde meet to the end of the book you are enthralled in their world。 Now I want more, and their steamy moments。

It was not bad。 I was expecting worse given the author’s past books which I found absolutely horrible。 This wasn’t the best, but it’s definitely a huge leap from “A Touch of Darkness”

2。75。It was…not that good。 Scarlett St。 Clair’s writing is entertaining but not great。 I had some issues with the world building here, I think this is her fantasy debut so I’ll cut her some slack since fantasy is horribly difficult to write。 I don’t think this world was well described or explained。 Like, there were instances where moments were simply glossed over, especially moments when a character is moving locations, that could have been a great opportunity for great imagery and learning more 2。75。It was…not that good。 Scarlett St。 Clair’s writing is entertaining but not great。 I had some issues with the world building here, I think this is her fantasy debut so I’ll cut her some slack since fantasy is horribly difficult to write。 I don’t think this world was well described or explained。 Like, there were instances where moments were simply glossed over, especially moments when a character is moving locations, that could have been a great opportunity for great imagery and learning more about this world。 But, she misses those moments when forgoing these slower scenes。 All the magic, monsters, and history still don’t make a lot of sense to me。 I think this needs to be explored more。 Isolde, oh Isolde。 She was so annoying at times。 Like, girl, take a breath before you start antagonizing everyone。 She was always trying to pick fights with Adrian, it’s hard to believe they fell in love。 Oh wait! They didn’t because they were already in love and Isolde just needed to remember! I can’t believe she never even asked Adrian how he knew that she was Yesenia。 How was she even resurrected (reincarnated??)? Was this the first time or were there other times she came back in another body? Honestly, the redeeming factor of this book was the flashbacks that Isolde had of Yesenia。 That was more interesting than anything going on in the present。 I wish this was Yesenia and Adrian’s story from the flashbacks。 That had so much Greek tragedy potential!! Yesenia knows the whole time how this ends!!?? Adrian having to this with the aftermath and the only person to tell her story and avenge her!!?? That would make a more interesting story 。。。more

The reincarnation trope needs to die

Meh。 The chosen one is very special。 She has a lot of steamy sex and says fuck a lot。 If you like vampire erotica and want a bit of plot with your porn this might be for you。 It wasn’t really for me。 Not awful。 Just a bit dull。

This book was great from beginning to end。 It moved along at fast pace, and the world building was still inviting。 I loved the relationship between Adrian and Isolde。 There is a great twist in the plot。 I can't wait to read the next book。 This book was great from beginning to end。 It moved along at fast pace, and the world building was still inviting。 I loved the relationship between Adrian and Isolde。 There is a great twist in the plot。 I can't wait to read the next book。 。。。more

Isolde and Adrian were the epitome of enemies to lovers, but I felt like they shared a lot of tender, sweet moments that lessened the “enemy” aspect between them。 I would say that Isolde was more apprehensive to accept her feelings for Adrian, especially in the beginning because one, she felt like she was betraying her people, and second, she felt like her feeling attracted to Adrian was going against everything she was taught, plus he was the “enemy”。 Whereas Isolde was conflicted with her feelings for Adrian, Adrian seemed like her genuinely liked Isolde from the very beginning。 I felt like Adrian’s attraction to Isolde was clear right away, but as Isolde and Adrian spent more time together, I started to pick up on some clues that revealed a lot more about Adrian’s feelings for Isolde, there was more beneath the surface that added an extra layer to Adrian and Isolde’s romance。 Out of all of Scarlet’s books, I would say this book was by far her spiciest to date。 At the core of Adrian and Isolde’s relationship was a lot of intimacy。 If you asked Isolde (especially in the beginning) she would say that *adult playtime* doesn’t mean anything, but as Adrian and Isolde share more physical intimacy they became more vulnerable with each other, and expressed their feelings in a more primal way。 Fair warning prepare for plenty of *intimate* scenes, so if that’s not your thing then you may not enjoy this。 Overall, I enjoyed the spice in this book, and while some may say that it was overdone, I think it played a significant role in Isolde and Adrian’s relationship。Through out the story, there were some clues that left me questioning what exactly was going on with Isolde specifically。 As the story continued, towards the end of the book everything started to come together that made for an “Aha!” moment。 I liked how everything came together in the plot and it created an interesting twist to Isolde and Adrian’s story。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Would middle school Hannah be surprised that 27-year-old Hannah is *still* reading vampire books? No。 No she would not。This one was fine。 Isolde’s kingdom is being conquered by the ruthless Blood King aka Adrian (obviously a vampire)。 She comes across him in the woods one day, and there’s a spark。 Adrian offers her father a deal: Isolde’s hand in marriage for peace in the kingdom。 Why her? She has no idea! Even though the hints he offers her are pretty obvious! The spicy scenes do get a bit repetitive and if I read the phrase “my heat” one more time, I may scream。 The ending made up for the beginning, though。 You might be surprised to hear this based on my review, but I’m interested to see where book 2 goes。 Will probably read。 What else am I gonna do? You guys…。this book…。😳😳😳🤯🤯‼️ This book was my most anticipated release of the year。 I stumbled on Scarlett St。 Clair when #bookstagram told me I had to read the A Touch of Darkness series and I fell in love! I love St。 Clair’s voice and the way she is portraying enemies to lovers in her complex stories。 She writes so beautifully without over complicating the story。 King of Battle and Blood brought this to another level。 I am completely in love and invested in Isolde and Adrian’s story。 St。 Clair You guys…。this book…。😳😳😳🤯🤯‼️ This book was my most anticipated release of the year。 I stumbled on Scarlett St。 Clair when #bookstagram told me I had to read the A Touch of Darkness series and I fell in love! Really enjoyed it。 FMC Isolde is strong, passionate, smart, and fierce。 A force to be reckoned with。 MMC Adrian seems to have a lot of depth, but we are only shown him from the outside, outer layers, from Isolde’s perspective。 The plot was fun, but left me a little confused。 The character interactions were at times too vaguely described to imagine well enough。 I nonetheless plan to reread and am looking forward to next book in series。

This winter has brought many gems shining in dark times。 King of Battle and Blood was surely one of them。 I remember St。 Clare’s Persephone X Hades series。 Persephone’s POV was lacking in my mind, but I adored Hades’ side。 For that reason, I gave this book a shot based on the blurb’s premise。 Lord, I’m glad I did。 If you’re a fan of Blood and Ash, this is your next fix of these modern vampire re-writes that have moved on from those that I will not name (we all remember the sparkly suckers。)The c This winter has brought many gems shining in dark times。 King of Battle and Blood was surely one of them。 I remember St。 Clare’s Persephone X Hades series。 Persephone’s POV was lacking in my mind, but I adored Hades’ side。 For that reason, I gave this book a shot based on the blurb’s premise。 Lord, I’m glad I did。 If you’re a fan of Blood and Ash, this is your next fix of these modern vampire re-writes that have moved on from those that I will not name (we all remember the sparkly suckers。)The characters and their arcs are terrific, and their relationship progression is beautiful。 We don’t get much detail on the supporting characters, which is a -1 from me, but the enumeration on our main character and love interest is yummy。 The development and plot twists are *chef’s kiss*, and I’m a sucker for an enemies-to-lovers plot line。 It’s also a badass girl book, and I’m a fan of any feminist framing that illustrates a woman who’s not afraid of her sexuality or her power fighting back against sexist。4/5* from me。 Some points lacked detail and I would have loved a little more said about our supporting characters and their developing relationships。 Beautiful world building 。。。more

I am giving this book 5 stars hands down okay IDGAF。 So, a lot of my friends have mixed reviews about the book because some didn't like Issi (the FML)。 You see, I love her because she is badass she doesn't give a fu, even if she was sheltered throughout her life people kind of misunderstand her and I get that。 I do agree that doesn't make the best decision, but damn when she claps back at people who insult her。。。 she can definitely SHUT YOU DOWN。 :) I wanna say more about Issi, but I wanna focus I am giving this book 5 stars hands down okay IDGAF。 So, a lot of my friends have mixed reviews about the book because some didn't like Issi (the FML)。 You see, I love her because she is badass she doesn't give a fu, even if she was sheltered throughout her life people kind of misunderstand her and I get that。 I do agree that doesn't make the best decision, but damn when she claps back at people who insult her。。。 she can definitely SHUT YOU DOWN。 :) I wanna say more about Issi, but I wanna focus on talking about the book as a whole。 We can talk more about Issi if you want, let me know。 I do like her and kind of take her side because I take it a bit personally。 She's cool。 Badass。 I know she doesn't handle things well, but I am all for character development。 Now I really hate the people around her of course, then comes our MAN。。。 Adrian <3 We love him。 He is such a cinnamon roll who will protect you no matter what。 YOU WILL LOVE HIM! Enemies to lovers ✅ arranged marriage ✅ vampires and witches ✅ love love loved this book so much。 It had all my favorites tropes。 At times it was a little frustrating because Isolde was sooo stubborn。 But in the end, she came around。

I’m hoping the second book it better。 。。。more

This was nice and spicy 🌶, which was cool, but ultimately it was predictable and not dissimilar to St。 Clair’s A Touch of Darkness。 I’m also really over the woman v。 woman drama trope。 Isolde seemed to view every other woman as either a threat to be jealous of or just beneath her。 I’m particularly talking about Adrian’s vassal。 Isolde was pissed Adrian went to her for sustenance, yet refused to take her place but still threw a fit over it。 And then despite Adrian making it clear he wasn’t intere This was nice and spicy 🌶, which was cool, but ultimately it was predictable and not dissimilar to St。 Clair’s A Touch of Darkness。 I’m also really over the woman v。 woman drama trope。 Isolde seemed to view every other woman as either a threat to be jealous of or just beneath her。 I’m particularly talking about Adrian’s vassal。 Isolde was pissed Adrian went to her for sustenance, yet refused to take her place but still threw a fit over it。 And then despite Adrian making it clear he wasn’t interested, Isolde still chose to belittle and humiliate the vassal, despite the clear power imbalance between them。 Does that make sense?
